Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, or microchannelling, creates tiny channels in the skin, stimulating your own natural healing response, encouraging the growth of new collagen and elastin, and restoring your skin to a naturally youthful glow.
Microneedling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions that cause depressions in the skin such as acne scarring, surgical scars, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, and stretch marks. The procedure causes short-term swelling, redness, and skin flaking, which can last for a few days
This treatment should not be used for individuals:
- Taking Accutane
- With active acne
- With active eczema
- With autoimmune disease
- Taking blood thinners or with blood clotting conditions
- With cancer/ undergoing chemotherapy
- With cold/ flu symptoms
- With cold sores/ herpes
- With uncontrolled Diabetes
- With any heart condition
- With moles
- Who are pregnant or lactating
- Who have had resent Botox/ fillers (minimum of 2 weeks for Botox, up to 4 weeks for filler)
- Taking steroids/ antibiotics
- Who have had a recent chemical peel/ use of AHA- BHA/ Retinols
Microneedling aftercare:
- Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating
- Avoid jacuzzi, sauna, or steam baths for 24 hours after treatment due to open pores, or up to 48 hours if inflammation exists
- Avoid direct sun
- No harsh chemicals/ exfoliants for 48-72 hours
- Use a gentle cleanser
- Nourish skin with peptides, growth factors and hydrating serums
- Change pillowcase
- Wipe your phone
Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment. You will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Do not pick, scratch, or scrub at treated skin! Allow old skin to flake off naturally and KEEP SKIN MOISTURIZED AT ALL TIMES.
For best results, we recommend follow-up and repeat treatments in 4-6 weeks and a series of 3-5 treatments depending on your personalized care plan.
